Manufacturing Manager / Senior Manufacturing Engineer


We are looking for an ambitious Manufacturing Manager / Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join a high
technology business developing complex capital equipment for the printing industry. It is a fantastic time to be
joining this Cambridgeshire based business, part of Agfa’s family, as it is launching new products, expanding its
capacity, and can offer significant career progression opportunities. The Manufacturing Manager will oversee
and challenge the existing manufacturing processes, helping the business excel in modern manufacturing
methods, techniques, policies, procedures, and play a vital role in Agfa’s growth strategy.


Manufacturing Manager`s Responsibilities:

 

 

  • This is a cross-functional role leading manufacturing product improvements across the business and developing production processes to continually improve the business performance and drive down manufacturing costs.
  • This will include leading, managing and developing the Manufacturing Engineering Team to deliver effective Production & Process Engineering services to support the business and exceed customer requirements.
  • You will also work closely with the R&D Engineering team to introduce new products to manufacturing (NPI) and provide feedback for improvements to existing products and development projects.
  • You will plan and develop departmental and management processes, promoting behaviour and skills in line with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles, leading the business in applying these techniques for root cause resolution and improvement, introducing suitable project management and reporting methods to support these developments.
  • To provide technical support to supply chain programmes focusing on outsourcing and reducing product costs, improving product reliability, whilst improving the build time and Right First Time (Quality) rates for parts/assemblies used by the business.
  • Implement best practice using industry standard tools (8D, Design-For-Manufacture, ECN, CARs).
  • To lead investigations into part/assembly failures or non-conformance (in-house or vendor-supplied), identifying root causes and implement corrective actions promoting a strong culture of continuous improvement.
  • To provide direction on Business Continuity – enabling the business to maximise the utilisation of buildings and people whilst reducing risks from external issues.
  • To promote a strong culture of H&S, support the ongoing 5S initiative, and ensure all areas comply both internally and externally.


Requirements for Manufacturing Manager

 

  • Previous experience working as Senior Manufacturing Engineer / Manufacturing Manager / Production
  • Manager for a manufacturing company producing high value electro-mechanical capital equipment.
  • HNC/Degree in Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
  • Expertise in process improvement techniques and methodologies, including project management experience.
