<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">As junior manager materials testing you are responsible for:


  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The day-to-day management of the mechanical materials testing laboratory within the multi-disciplinary Physics & Analytics department of the Materials Technology Center at Agfa. This includes coordination of work and daily coaching of the operators in the lab.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Characterization of the mechanical properties of coatings, functional polymers, printed parts and other materials from our internal and external clients (via www.agfa-labs.com).
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Determination of the stability of these materials under the influence of different simulated climates and/or UV-irradiation and testing of their properties according to international standards.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Reporting the test results of the mechanical lab to all of our clients and translating mechanical data into value for our company.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Keeping our test methods up-to-date in accordance with international standards and implementing suitable test methods in the lab for new materials and applications from our research programs. To this end, you know how to find the correct information in international literature, patents and you stay up-to-date by attending international conferences.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Maintaining and expanding our international network of collaboration partners and platforms with specialized equipment.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Participation in and coordination of interdisciplinary project teams aimed at solving materials related issues.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Communicating with internal and external clients. We work according to 1-2-1 partnerships in order to understand our clients’ needs as well as possible.

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The profile we are looking for:


  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">You are a Master of Science or have an Engineering degree in physics, materials science or applied chemistry or have the necessary experience in a similar field.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">You are familiar with mechanical concepts like stress, strain, abrasion, fracture etc. Application of these concepts to organic-based multilayer systems or polymer-based materials is a plus.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Knowledge and/or experience of any of the following domains is beneficial: climate testing, UV weathering, optical measurements (UV/VIS spectroscopy), evaluation of color and gloss, digital microscopy and automation (e.g. mechanical design and Labview programming)
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">You have a strong analytical mindset and have excellent organizational skills.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">You are very familiar with data analysis and statistics.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Your approach is hands-on, and not afraid of practical challenges.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">You like to work outside of the routine, you enjoy a good challenge and can cope with fast-changing goals and environments.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">You have business sense and work towards reaching concrete objectives and goals for your clients.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">You are an excellent communicator and can build strong interpersonal relationships. You can transfer knowledge to your clients in a clear and common language.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">You speak English and Dutch, or are willing to learns Dutch in the near future.
