Global Purchasing Category Manager Chemicals and Packaging

As the Global Category Manager for Chemicals and Packaging at Agfa, you'll play a pivotal role in driving strategic sourcing initiatives and optimizing procurement processes on a global scale. You'll serve as the primary leader and reference point for the Chemicals and Packaging category, implementing strategies to enhance productivity, negotiate contracts, and ensure cost-effective sourcing. Collaboration with internal stakeholders and suppliers will be key to innovating solutions that meet quality, sustainability, and budgetary objectives.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

• Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for the Chemicals and Packaging category, optimizing spend through value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE), contract negotiations, and market testing.
• Collaborate closely with business units, application departments, and manufacturing sites to innovate solutions with suppliers, ensuring on-time delivery, quality, competitive pricing, and sustainability goals.
• Deploy global sourcing strategies effectively, conducting RFIs/RFQs and final selections in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
• Participate in leadership teams of business units to align sourcing activities with organizational objectives.
• Lead the Materials Manufacturing – Purchasing Supply Chain, ensuring early supplier involvement and project cost management.
• Assure accurate and timely reporting of sourcing metrics, driving global purchasing alignment and compliance.
• Direct research and analysis of sourcing opportunities and emerging technologies in international markets.

Profile

• PhD or Master's degree in Chemical or Scientific discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in chemicals production environment, with a preference for purchasing assignments.
• Strong negotiation skills and understanding of technical requirements/application of chemicals and packaging.
• Proficiency in conflict management, people development, and ERP systems (knowledge of SAP is an advantage).
• Fluency in English; Dutch proficiency is advantageous.
