In order to strengthen our innovation strategy, we are reinforcing our Agfa Innovation team by hiring a Business Development Manager for Smart Packaging solutions

You will lead internal and external relationships, track new markets and emerging trends and recommend new products and services. As a BD manager and specialist in your area, you propose and develop new strategic partnerships, write business proposals and plans, and guide long-term objectives to meet business needs and requirements.

You are responsible for the business development of the Agfa Smart Packaging segment. Primary duties include identifying business opportunities, building and maintaining successful relationships with partners and potential clients, collaborating with executives on business strategy to determine objectives and maximizing business reach and potential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Take the lead in market research and technology scouting. Collection, analysis and synthesis of market and technology information and statistics.
  • Identify potential business in the target market and complete appropriate research on the prospective market trends and business needs
  • Partner with the internal network and manage team meetings.
  • Become a subject matter expert on new business, support product development and remain up-to-date on industry news
  • Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements
  • Having an in-depth knowledge of business products and able to articulate value propositions.
  • Write and motivate business cases.
  • Support in entering new markets.
  • Develop relationships with potential partners
  • Negotiate contract terms with partners.
  • Team up with the IO Steerco in the idea-validation process and the innovation project work.
  • Team up with the IO Steerco in the formulation of the agfa innovation strategy; hereby involving other Agfa departments and the Agfa Strategy Office.





  • Master/MBA/PHD in Commercial Engineering/Science with a strong interest in scientific innovation.
  • Good level of experience and understanding in/of the Packaging industry with the ability to become a subject matter expert on the job.
  • Demonstrated achievement in business development.
  • Innovation and problem-solving skills that include the ability to develop and propose solutions.
  • Customer- and business driven.
  • Result-oriented and accountable team player.
  • Good inter-personal skills and can built relationship with all stakeholders.
  • You take ownership and can work independently on your projects and goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including facilitation of group presentations
