The development of new ink formulations for Agfa Graphics and third party inkjet printing systems for industrial printing applications (packaging, flooring, decoration, … ).


As junior project manager inkjet inks you are responsible for:


  • Independently leading ink development projects of limited size for inkjet printing systems for third parties in the area of industrial printing. This holds all aspects from the conceptual phase until product release in compliance with the product development process. Setting up a project plan in function of the functional requirements, resources and timings. Assessment of remaining risks in every phase of the project.
  • Reporting on the status and progress of your projects to internal and external business partners, technical fora and decisive bodies.
  • Providing functional guidance to supporting competence centres (pigment dispersions, ingredients and analytics).
  • Follow-up of the state-of-art and recognizing additions to the available knowledge that are patentable. Propose and generate experimental support to maximize the scope of protection.
  • Follow-up of legal aspects relevant to certain applications (eg. inks for food packaging) and implementation of this knowledge to achieve compliance.
  • You are responsible for the setup and execution of experiments to create and characterise new ink formulations. You have knowledge of experimental design software.
  • You analyse and interpret experimental results and use the conclusions to setup new experiments.
  • You are responsible for follow up of the system integration of new developed inks on different printing system and the evaluation of these inks on R&D test equipment and commercial inkjet printers.
  • You build up knowledge on the relation between structures and properties (structure of ink compounds vs. macroscopic properties of inks and printed images). You propose new building blocks and ink formulations based on these findings.
  • You guide the scaling-up and introduction in production of new inks and make a proposal for production specifications and quality specifications for raw materials and semi-finished products (solutions and pigment dispersions).


Desired profile


  • You hold a master degree in a technical-scientific field (chemistry, materials science, … ) (or equivalent by experience).
  • You have experience in chemical product development, preferably a few years in inkjet ink development projects or colloid and polymer chemistry.
  • You are passionate, result-driven and customer-oriented.
  • You are capable of running projects to develop new products independently. You collaborate positively with the members of multi-disciplinary teams, co-workers, business partners and customers.
  • You are a problem solver with strong organisational skills.
  • You work systematically, neatly and safely.
  • You take initiative, make proposals and work target oriented.
  • You are a strong communicator and have good interpersonal skills.
  • You are fluent in English and Dutch or are willing to learn Dutch.
  • You are stress resistant and perseverant.
  • You are willing to travel occasionally for short periods of time (< 10%).
