Agfa is looking for a Senior General Accountant to join our finance team. You will be responsible for the daily operational accounting including compliance, consolidation and analysis of financial data.  He/She needs to be able to communicate on a daily basis with both internal and external parties and needs to have a broad, holistic view on the organization and the R2R processes.  The Senior Record to Report /General Ledger Accountant acts as right hand to the GFS-manager.  All issues and questions connected to the R2R process for the entities he/she is responsible for will be handled by the Senior Record to Report /General Ledger Accountant in a fast and efficient manner.

 

Responsibilities, but not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for the accounting R2R activities.
  • Support to the GFS-manager on a daily basis for all tasks which implies ability to act as back up.
  • Verification of ‘non-rule based’ accounting entries.
  • Responsible for the coordination of and assistance in the closing process; mainly on vendors and advances to them.
  • Support to internal and external audits.
  • Ensure, together with interna land external partners, a qualitative and correct reconciliation of accounts.
  • Execute accounting process controls on a regular basis.
  • Assist to the legal compliance process (annual accounts, CIT declarations, statistics…).
  • Execution of small ad hoc projects within the R2R domain.
  • Challenge current ways of working and propose improvement initiatives where possible.
  • Deliver consequently work of high quality, accurate and according to the standards, procedures, agreements, rules and expectations.
  • Act as trustworthy back-up for colleagues.
  • Cooperate closely with service teams, stakeholders, management, audit teams, finance partners, middle office.
  • Assist in the coordination of administration in case shared service functions are locally not represented (purchasing, inventories and banks)
  • Stimulate by example a culture of "one company"

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or equivalent through relevant experience)
  • 2-7 years experience in an international accounting environment.

Specific Skills:

  • Solid knowledge and insight in accounting activities, accounting techniques, standard- and best practices, cost reporting, balance sheet and profit & loss accounts.
  • knowledge of the most important IFRS-standards and a good knowledge of the local GAAP standards.
  • Excellent knowledge of the different SAP modules and tools including PS-accounting.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Visual Basic) and SAP (transactional and Business Warehouse).
  • Able to build a good knowledge of current systems and procedures and able to design and implement new procedures or adapt current procedures in order to comply to business needs.
  • Able to take end-to-end ownership within domain of record to report and demonstrate indirect leadership.
  • Process oriented and a good knowledge of end-to-end processes of the company.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail oriented, organised, and accurate.
  • Motivated to handle challenges when they occur.
  • Integer and customer oriented.
  • Creative in finding solutions and able to think ‘out of the box’.
  • Good knowledge of English, both in writing and verbal. Knowledge of any other European language is an asset.
