The Agfa-Gevaert Group develops, manufactures and distributes an extensive range of analogue and digital imaging systems and IT solutions, mainly for the printing industry and the healthcare sector, as well as for specific industrial applications.


The Inkjet Ink development team (IID), part of the Materials Technology Centre in Digital Print & Chemicals, focuses on the development of new inkjet ink formulations for inkjet printing systems intended for industrial printing applications (wide format graphics, decoration, printed circuit boards and printed electronics etc.).

The project manager inkjet inks is responsible for developing new inkjet ink formulations for Agfa’s wide format graphics inkjet printing systems. 




As project manager you are responsible for:


  • Managing a portfolio of ink development projects in line with the expected time, cost and performance and in accordance with the stage gate development process. This holds all aspects from the conceptual phase until commercial launch and a proven consistent manufacturing process on an industrial scale.
  • Translating ink requirements for a proper ink-print system integration and for optical and physical properties of the printed image into a chemical ink formulation.
  • Being aware of the limitations for that ink formulations in terms of legislation, environment, health and safety, third party patent rights, manufacturing infrastructure, packaging materials, printer compatibility and cost.
  • Leading interdisciplinary project (core) teams and reporting the project status to internal business partners.
  • Leading your own R&D team of approximately seven specialists and cascade goals and deliverables to the supporting corporate competence centres (pigment dispersions, design of molecular ingredients, process development, analytical support).
  • Ad hoc support of total quality management ink in case of complaints with commercial inks. Analyse if the root cause if conceptual or linked to manufacturing consistency and propose solutions.
  • Monitoring the state of the art and new technological evolutions in your discipline as well as limitations by third party patent rights and building an own strategic patent portfolio.




  • You have a scientific degree (PhD, Ir) in chemistry or material science.
  • You have more than five years of experience in the development of chemical formulations or program management in an interdisciplinary environment with chemical consumables.
  • Preferably, you have experience in UV curable inkjet inks for wide format graphics and other industrial printing applications.
  • You are self-motivated, result and customer oriented.
  • You are inspiring and cooperative with respect to members of an interdisciplinary team, co-workers, business partners and customers.
  • You are eager to learn, innovative and strong in problem analysis.
  • You have good interpersonal and communication skills
  • You are willing to travel occasionally (< 20%).
  • You speak fluent English and Dutch or willing to learn to speak Dutch.
