The Manager, System Administration is responsible for the management of a team of onsite and remote system administrators responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization environments. 

 

This position serves as a senior level field domain expert for the portfolio of Agfa HealthCare products covered with Managed Service offerings by demonstrating innovative thinking to implement solutions to complex problems spanning solution configuration, Cybersecurity, and system availability. This position overseas the in-house customer training environment and two internal training and testing environments.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives in all three areas of responsibility within Agfa Managed Service (AMS).
  • Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals, delivers coaching and development for subordinates, and responsible for supervising job performance. 
  • Responsible for the proactive technical management of the IT platforms of Agfa Managed Service (AMS) customers and internal platforms and systems used to support Agfa Managed Service (AMS).
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to subordinates for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure identifying present and future needs for software and equipment lifecycle.
  • Manages security vulnerabilities and availability of assigned systems through patch management, group policies, anti-virus and firewall management, and security best practices such as NIST, DoD, and CIS.
  • Engages in “Special Programs” that support a wide variety of Agfa Managed Service (AMS) business needs relating to but not limited to system availability, system administration, system monitoring and cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrates innovative thinking and generates/implements suggestions for the improvement of customer satisfaction, efficiency in delivery, and growth of Agfa Managed Service (AMS).
  • Manages technical conflicts (both internal and external) in order to focus on solutions/results and to increase customer appreciation through increased availability and uptime.
  • Maintain a positive, problem solving approach and spirit of cooperation in a team environment.
  • Proactively address issues and remain open and flexible to respond to changes in business and organizational needs.

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required

 

Experience:

 

  • 6 or more years of previous work experience in a technical customer support role working with mission critical systems
  • Wide range of IT technical skills (Windows, LINUX, VMWare, Storage, Networking, Oracle, Backup Systems, etc) with an ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems with software and hardware systems.
  • Previous knowledge of Agfa software or similar industry PACS, HIS, RIS or EMR products, hospital workflow and a demonstrated capability to learn cutting edge new technologies.
  • People management experience, including the ability to lead and motivate teams.
  • Collaborate with peers, support leadership, and Agfa Managed Services (AMS) to discuss activities, strategies, initiatives and opportunities that support team and business goals.  Recommend solutions.
  • Act as first line of help for escalation management.  Monitor escalated issues to ensure the proper urgency, progress and communication is occurring both internally and externally.  Escalates to senior management in accordance with defined escalation procedures.
  • Security Certifications such as Security+ or Certified Information Systems Security Professional required
  • Must be eligible to apply for customer-initiated clearances such as the US National Agency Check (NAC).
  • Up to 25% travel
