Director of Clinical Applications

The Director of Applications Consultants/ Specialists will be responsible to ensure best practices and continuous improvement for the clinical applications staff. This role will drive a team environment for the staff through positive reinforcement, exceptional organizational skills, high EQ, excellent communications skills and understands how to bring a team together in a remote environment.  Responsible for hiring top talent, training, and continued learning and growth for the team.  

The Director will work closely with the Applications staff and guide them as they work with the customers during and after the implementation.  The Director understands clinical department operations will ensure the AC/AS will provide guidance and best practice procedures that will maximize the customer’s benefit from Agfa technologies. The Director will often be exposed to C-level executives and business leaders at customer locations. The position requires excellent communication skills and a strong clinical and leadership background. They will need to draw on broad clinical and leadership expertise in order to successfully lead the team to successful outcomes.

 

This position can be located anywhere in the US

 

  • Up to 60% travel required, weekend travel will be required.
  • Ability to travel within the US primarily, Canada and abroad on occasion
  • Ability to work well in various fast paced environments (office, hospital, and clinical)

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Director of Clinical Applications will develop and ensure the clinical applications team has a mastery of Agfa applications in order to provide high quality user training and configuration which promotes optimal product utilization.
  • Drive the applicable clinical work environments and related customer needs in order to successfully integrate the Agfa solution into customer’s workflow.
  • Ensure successful implementation and rollout training of the system by conducting system configuration, acceptance testing, end-user training, and follow-up support and training, as needed.   
  • Work closely with Agfa Project Management in the Applications facets of customer projects, including customer and internal meetings and presentations, testing coordination and support, go live support.
  • Provide consultative services and recommendations toward the improvement of overall efficiency through training and education.
  • Develop documentation and training materials as required to support deployment and internal/external training and consulting.
  • Identify and communicate possible improvements in the work process for the Agfa team as well as customers.
  • Be a knowledgeable resource in the best practices and required workflow recommendations and drive the team that will determine application optimization within the department and provide customer with best practice methodologies.
  • Perform policy and procedure development and review
  • Conduct workflow reviews (including system workflow and department process workflow)
  • Determine staffing requirements, job descriptions and competencies. Work with other implementation leadership to organize, and if necessary, re-organize clinical applications resources to best meet the needs of Agfa’s clinical deployments and its customers.
  • Conduct Pre-Live & Post Live Assessments
  • Assist with application training for personnel in Client Services
  • Generating new Professional Service opportunities- Use clinical experience and project related activities to identify new professional services opportunities and contribute to the Professional Services portfolio.
  • Process Development -Develop internal process documentation related to the integration of Agfa’s Solution in order to improve project and product delivery, shorten lead times for installations, and reduce service support overhead.
  • Provide product input to Product Marketing and Product Development (R&D) groups using the information from previous and current installations.  Provide written direction to these groups regarding product functionality that will improve the implementation process

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred. Certification and current registration in a clinical speciality (Radiology or Cardiology)

 

Experience:

 

  • 7+ years of experience in a Clinical Healthcare Specialty, Specifically Radiology and/or Cardiology with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • 10+ Healthcare IT vendor experience with a number of these years in an Implementation Leader role.  
  • Experience in direct customer contact, especially in a training and consulting role.

 

Specific Skills:

 

  • Strong clinical experience in Clinical IT; Radiology /cardiology specialty, with continuing exposure to clinical trends/developments through continuing education programs. 
  • Strong leadership and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong Communications Skills; oral presentation and written documentation
  • Ability to understand information technology terms and read technical documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities
  • Professional and able to work with all aspects of the organization, sales, support, deployment
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills, including working under tight deadlines and with quickly changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated initiative to develop creative solutions to address project and customer needs. Flexibility and commitment to contribute as needed to the success of the team and project(s) as required
