The Applications Consultant will work directly with customers during pre-sales, pre-deployment, and implementation to assess clinical processes and design solutions that will maximize the customer’s benefits from Agfa HealthCare’s Enterprise Imaging solution. This person will provide Enterprise consultative services to coordinate project and integration activities with customers and third-party vendors, and draw on broad clinical and technical expertise in order to successfully integrate clinical systems with our solution offering.  In addition, the Applications Consultant may assist in clinical workflow validation and launch activities, as well as documentation and transfer of knowledge of the end solution.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Project Consultant – Work with project manager to develop engagement plans, work break-down structures, and testing plans.  Assist in the coordination of interface and integration activities of Agfa cross-functional teams, customer resources, and third-party vendors during the project life-cycle.
  • Workflow Analysis / Business Rules Development – Conduct detailed analysis of the customer’s existing clinical environment and design business and clinical workflows that will optimize patient care.  Develop Agfa solutions that will meet unique workflow requirements of each department, while creating a seamless presentation of clinically relevant information to the hospital enterprise.
  • Professional Services Development - Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to identify customer pain points and develop new services and solutions to improve customer adoption and clinical outcomes with our software.
  • Training and Knowledge Transfer – Train internal and external customers on solutions provided. Develop and provide documentation on solutions for both new and current product lines.

 

Major Decisions:

 

 

  • The candidate will have direct interactions with sales, pre-sales, marketing, services and R&D organizations, and will be relied upon to make recommendations that will impact Agfa’s professional services portfolio, the product roadmap, project delivery models, and product serviceability.
  • The Applications Consultant will be responsible for managing activities across multi-specialty service lines in order to successfully implement our solutions.  The recommendations and decisions at the clinical level will have a direct impact on how these organizations do business, and how they deliver patient care.
  • The Applications Consultant will complete validation tasks related to product enhancements, functionality, and bug fixes to ensure the product is ready for launch.
  • The Applications Consultant will need to provide direction to others in order to drive project task completion and project decisions. Additionally, the Applications Consultant will be responsible for coordinating resources that may affect the current project as well as other concurrently running projects.
  • The candidate will work closely with internal and external resources to ensure the project is well documented, acceptance testing is completed, training is delivered, and knowledge transfer is accomplished.
  • The work of a Applications Consultant on a given project may span several months; the candidate will be involved with multiple projects at all times.  The candidate will have to self-manage their time and balance competing priorities from multiple customer-facing projects, self-directed work, and support related activities.

 

Major Opportunities & Challenges:

 

  • The Applications Consultant will be engaged in many direct customer facing activities and will find themselves engaging stakeholders from the C-suite to end-user.  How the candidate manages himself/herself and how he/she manages situations will directly impact the project and/or service success.
  • The candidate will have responsibility for coordinating and directing the efforts of others to ensure projects are completed on-time and within scope.  Many of the required resources involved in the project will work outside of the Applications Consultant ’s organizational unit, and the candidate will need to rely on planning, communication, and leadership skills to direct work of those not under their direct (or indirect) supervision.
  • All clinical environments are unique, and the Applications Consultant will need to use existing knowledge, experience, and available resources to develop appropriate solutions.
  • The candidate needs to be able to conceptualize how all the different systems in the customer’s environment uniquely work together in order to propose the best solution for that particular customer.

 

Knowledge & Skills:

 

  • The candidate must have knowledge of HIS/RIS systems, EHR and EMR systems, interdepartmental clinical imaging workflows, and regional healthcare exchanges
  • Understanding of medical communication protocols, including DICOM, HL7, XDS, and IHE
  • Demonstrated continuous learning orientation, particularly around new applications and medical developments and healthcare industry standards.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and handle shifting priorities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with little guidance and supervision
  • Knowledge of current information systems technology and industry trends
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent negotiation, facilitation and conflict resolution skills
  • Previous experience working in a global environment
  • Previous mentoring and teaching / training experience
  • Proven presentation, preparation, and delivery skills to a diverse audience ranging from C-suite to end users
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office 360 suite products as well as Visio, Project, and Adobe Acrobat.

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Radiology, CIS, Healthcare or related field.

 

Experience:

 

  • 5 years of health care industry knowledge with direct experience mapping, updating, and/or developing clinical workflows and business rules for medical treatment facilities.
  • Expert knowledge of RIS/CIS/PACS and imaging workflow cycle
  • Experience with multi-site RIS/CIS/PACS/EMR environments/configurations
  • Exceptional knowledge of HL7, DICOM, IHE and the connectivity framework.

 

Other Requirements & Working Conditions:

 

Work is performed primarily from a virtual office environment. Requirement to work outside regular business hours to meet customer schedules due to global customer base.  Extensive networking with team members and other Agfa employees in other regions is expected.  Regional and/or international travel will be required to meet with clients and other stake holders.  Up to 20% travel.
