System Administrator - Healthcare IT

The System Administrator - Healthcare IT is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. They install and support software to actively resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the company.


This position is based in San Antonio Texas

The incumbent travels to our customer sites and therefore requires proof of full vaccination against Covid-19

Must be eligible to apply for customer-initiated security clearance, such as the US National Agency Check (NAC)


Job Duties & Accountabilities:


  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization; prepare reports and diagrams for administration as appropriate or directed
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Lead support efforts of all assigned systems by ensuring problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions engaging internal and external support organizations
  • Assist Project teams and staff with activities of vendors in all phases of installation, implementation and upgrade of systems.
  • Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.  Coordinate and document the implications of downtime and monitor fault-tolerance and recovery testing including confirmation of effectiveness.
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure identifying present and future needs for software and equipment lifecycle.
  • Manages security vulnerabilities and availability of assigned systems through patch management, group policies, anti-virus and firewall management, and security best practices such as NIST, DoD, and CIS.
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance.




  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required.




  • 3-5 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience.


Specific Skils:


  • Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, Storage Solutions (NetApp, HP, Dell/EMC), and Oracle Databases
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools
  • Ability to work well under pressure and on concurrent multidisciplinary projects
  • Strong knowledge of helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
  • Previous knowledge of Agfa software or similar industry PACS, HIS, RIS or EMR products, hospital workflow and a demonstrated capability to learn cutting edge new technologies.
  • CIIP certification preferred.
  • ITIL Foundation certification preferred.
  • Ideal candidate will have one or more of the following: Security+, Network+, MCSA Windows Server, VMware VCA, VMware  VCP, Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator, Oracle Certified Associate.
