As a Certified Database Administrator (DBA), you will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of our organization's databases. You will work closely with development teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure that our databases meet business requirements and performance goals. This role requires a deep understanding of database management systems, proficiency in database administration tasks, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues effectively.
What You'll Do:
- Database Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and upgrade database management systems (DBMS) such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, RDS, or SQL Server. Ensure databases are properly configured to meet performance, security, and availability requirements.
- Database Design and Optimization: Design and implement database schemas, tables, indexes, and views to support application requirements. Optimize database performance by tuning queries, indexing strategies, and database parameters.
- Backup and Recovery: Implement database backup and recovery strategies to protect data against loss or corruption. Perform regular backups and test recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Database Security: Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access, modification, or disclosure. Configure access controls, encryption mechanisms, and auditing features to comply with security standards and regulations. Execute routine Database patching according to OEM and AGFA policies.
- Database Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor database performance, health, and availability using monitoring tools and alerts. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as database reorganization, space management, and index maintenance to optimize database performance and reliability.
- Database Migration and Upgrade: Plan and execute database migration and upgrade projects to transition databases to new hardware or software platforms. Coordinate with development teams and stakeholders to minimize downtime and ensure data integrity during migration and upgrade processes.
- Database Documentation and Reporting: Maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and standards. Generate reports on database performance, capacity, and usage trends to support capacity planning and decision-making processes.
What you'll bring (Qualifications):
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator or a similar role, with hands-on experience in managing relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, RDS, SQL Server).
- Deep understanding of database management concepts, principles, and best practices.
- Proficiency in SQL programming and database query optimization techniques.
- Experience with database backup and recovery procedures, including database replication and disaster recovery solutions.
- Knowledge of database security principles and techniques, including access controls, encryption, and auditing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot database performance and reliability issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Work closely with development teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure that our databases meet business requirements and performance goals. May also work with Clients.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree or certifications (Oracle Certified Professional or above required).
Experience:
- 8+ years of Proven experience as a Database Administrator or a similar role, with hands-on experience in managing relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
- Deep understanding of database management concepts, principles, and best practices.
- Proficiency in SQL programming and database query optimization techniques.
- Experience with database backup and recovery procedures, including database replication and disaster recovery solutions.
- Knowledge of database security principles and techniques, including access controls, encryption, and auditing.
- Experience supporting a Database in a Cloud environment (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
