Agfa HealthCare has an immediate opening for a Technical Writer to join its team.


The Technical Writer is part of the documentation team that works closely with the software development team to create various forms of documentation for AGFA HealthCare products

The incumbent of this role plans, researches, writes, edits, and generates user and administrator documentation in HTML format, and installation, configuration, and migration guides in PDF format and Quick References. They will work collaboratively with technical writers, developers and other individuals within the organization.


Main Responsibilities:


Product Documentation Creation:
  • Manages multiple projects to create product documents that conform to company documentation and quality assurance standards, in a variety of media/formats.
  • Acts as a point of contact and documentation representative on Project Control teams.
  • Conducts interviews and interactions with project stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (developers, testers, product managers, architects, etc.), to gather information about applications for writing the product documentation.
  • Plans the elements and organization of user documentation projects, recommending what information the deliverables should focus on, what information should be included and why, who the target audience is, and the best method of delivering the required information.
  • Writes product user and administrator documentation including knowledge bases, installation, configuration, and migration guides, and documentation relating to software applications.
  • Builds product online knowledge bases and installation, configuration, and migration guides using various industry-specific software packages and following established practices and procedures to create the look and feel of final documentation products.
  • Researches and translates technical information from resources and Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) into written online knowledge bases and installation, configuration, and migration guides for the product documentation.
  • Develops and tests indexes, tables of contents, search functionality, links and source files for documentation projects.
  • Releases output from knowledge bases and installation, configuration, and migration guides to stakeholders for review, verification, and feedback.
  • Develops a good understanding of the company’s products through hands-on experience, participation at stakeholder meetings, interviewing Subject Matter Experts, and review of supporting documentation, including identification and communication of risks and issues.
  • Uses products to generate an understanding of the user experience and translate this understanding into the user persona approach to documentation.
  • Coordinates vendors, quotes, and approvals for the translation of product documentation into other languages, ensuring timely completion and document integrity are maintained




  • Mentors other technical writers and members of the organization in the documentation development process, including providing advice and guidance around technical writing principles.
  • Reviews and edits documentation deliverables and information architecture designs for peers, junior writers, and departmental students, providing advice and feedback.
  • Maintains identified departmental processes and procedures (style guide, translation processes, etc.), acting as a point of contact and expert resource to other members of the team.  Makes recommendations for and leads some continuous improvement initiatives.
