Project manager Plate Systems Development

As Project Manager Plate Systems Development you will be part of the R&D environment within Agfa Offset Printing and contribute to the development of new, high quality and innovative printing plate concepts for the graphic market (offset and flexo).

You are responsible for managing research projects in accordance with the predetermined time, cost, and product performance. You manage the projects in the conceptual phase and take into account legislation, safety, health and environment and patent rights of third parties.




  • You are responsible for the development of printing plate systems that, in addition to competitive quality, can also add value in terms of environmental sustainability.
  • Since innovations go hand in hand with intellectual property, an important part of the job is to further develop our patent portfolio.
  • You translate functional requirements and expectations into technical solutions. You make a plan of approach and initiate-formulate-interpret the necessary experiments.
  • As project manager you work closely together with team members of various departments and competences. You have a central role in contacts with marketing, application, engineering, production and basic chemistry departments in order to achieve your project objectives within the specified time and budget.
  • You are responsible for analyzing, initiating and following up quality and product improvements by working together with different team members of various departments such as R&D, marketing, application, production and basic chemistry.
  • As a project manager, you are responsible for efficient cost control of your project(s) and of all safety and environmental aspects. You report on the status and further planning of the research work in project meetings.
  • You supervise and coach direct employees in your role as manager of a product development team within PSD. 




  • You are an engineer or doctor of science, preferably in the field of Chemistry. You have knowledge of polymer chemistry.
  • You preferably have experience with or knowledge of imaging chemistry and technology in the field of digital printing plate systems (offset and flexo).
  • You have experience in managing various research projects.
  • You have knowledge of product development and are preferably well versed in polymers, coatings, surface chemistry and photo-reactions.
  • You are driven and an outspoken team player.
  • You work smoothly with interdisciplinary teams, colleagues, business partners and customers.
  • You are strong in problem analysis, stress resistant and result and customer oriented.
  • You are innovation driven and deal efficiently with changing project priorities and circumstances.
  • You are strong in communication.
