Applications Consultant - Cardiology

The Applications Consultant - Cardio will work directly with customers during the implementation to understand the business operations of the clinical departments.  Understanding department operations will enable the AC Cardio to provide guidance and best practice procedures that will maximize the customer’s benefit from Agfa technologies. Consultants will often be exposed to C-level executives and business leaders at customer locations. The position requires excellent communication skills and a strong clinical and leadership background. S/he will need to draw on broad clinical and leadership expertise in order to successfully integrate our solutions with the hospital’s clinical systems. Our consultants will be relied upon to coordinate project and integration activities with customers and third-party vendors during project implementations. The AC Cardio will offer consultative guidance on customer business decisions that impact day to day operations as well as the organization’s strategic goals. 


This position can be based anywhere in the US, close to a major airport


Main Responsibilities:


  • Application Consultant Cardiology is part of an Implementation Project Team.  S/he works with the team to plan, deploy, test and execute all tasks of a plan. 
  • Provide consultative services to hospital/department management to assist with the implementation of Enterprise Imaging.
  • Determine application optimization within the department and provide customer with best practice methodologies
  • Perform policy and procedure development and review
  • Conduct workflow reviews (including system workflow and department process workflow)
  • Determine staffing requirements, job descriptions and competencies
  • Maintain documentation covering each departmental implementation
  • Conduct Pre-Live & Post Live Assessments
  • Assist with application training for personnel in Client Services
  • Creates monthly Knowledge Base articles
  • Generating new Professional Service opportunities- Use clinical experience and project related activities to identify new professional services opportunities and contribute to the Professional Services portfolio.
  • Process Development -Develop internal process documentation related to the integration of Agfa’s Solution in order to improve project and product delivery, shorten lead times for installations, and reduce service support overhead.
  • Provide product input to Product Marketing and Product Development (R&D) groups using the information from previous and current installations.  Provide written direction to these groups regarding product functionality that will improve the implementation process


  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
  • Certification and current registration in a clinical speciality (Cardiology - RDCS ▪ Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Adult & Pediatric - RVT ▪ Registered Vascular Technologist)




  • Cardiology: 7+ years of experience in a Clinical Healthcare Specialty, Specifically Cardiology with demonstrated leadership skills. Work experience in Academic hospital setting strongly preferred. Healthcare IT vendor experience on an Implementation team a plus.  


Specific Skills:


  • Strong clinical experience in Clinical IT; Cardiology specialty, with continuing exposure to clinical trends/developments through continuing education programs.  Depth of clinical experience will serve as the backbone for the position’s responsibilities.
  • Strong leadership and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong Communications Skills; oral presentation and written documentation
  • Ability to understand information technology terms and read technical documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities
  • Professional and able to work with all aspects of the organization, sales, support, deployment
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills, including working under tight deadlines and with quickly changing priorities.
  • Ability to adhere to predefined processes
  • Ability to work independently, relying on clinical and technical judgment.
  • Up to 80% travel required, weekend travel will be required.
  • Ability to travel within the US primarily, Canada and abroad on occasion
  • Ability to work well in various fast paced environments (office, hospital, and clinical)
