Verification & Validation Team Lead

The Verification and Validation (V&V) Team Lead provides leadership to a team of Verification & Validation Engineers who perform SW testing tasks as part of the scrum teams they are assigned to. The main focus of the role is on mentoring and coaching the team members. The V&V team lead analyses the skills of the team, identifies growth potential and defines growth paths together with the team members to ensure that the team has the knowledge and expertise to meet current and future project demands. The V&V Team Lead reports to the Global Director V&V and drives the testing strategy to support the common business goals, together with other leaders (development, product management, project management). The V&V Team Lead supports innovation and optimization of testing strategy and tools, including test automation.

 

Main Duties and Responsiblities:

 

  • The V&V Team Lead is accountable for providing leadership and management of all operational and strategic V&V activities for his team. With this, the team lead ensures that software testing is performed in the scrum teams to support delivery of software in time and with quality.
  • Coaching team members, hiring new colleagues, reviewing their performances and providing career growth opportunities. 
  • Tracking, evaluating the team’s activities and recommending changes to maximize results, and reporting progress to the global V&V director and project management office.
  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with other teams within the organization.
  • Aligning with scrum masters to ensure the scrum teams have adequate resources and are engaged in a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Ensures that necessary information, tools and equipment are available to the team, as well as acting as touch point to other teams in the organization (e.g. development, program / project management, product management and services.).
  • Collaborating with members of other teams to detect, analyze and correct issues (e.g. Software bugs, testing issues...)

 

Education

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent by experience.
  • Alternatively, a clinical education with experience in HealthCare IT.

Experience

  • Previous people management experience.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of software verification and validation processes, preferably in the medical device domain and in an agile software development context. Agile Leader with business sense and customer-focused mindset who sets examples through coaching, empowering and engaging individuals and teams to reach their highest potential.

 

Specific skills
  • Knowledge and experience of clinical workflows, PACS / RIS systems and HealthCare Protocols (DICOM / HL7)
  • Knowledge in test automation and web-based software testing.
  • Ability to lead virtual teams globally, communicate effectively, interact with and lead functions across software verification & validation process.
  • Advanced IT skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Proven team player with solid leadership, management and negotiation capabilities. 
  • General understanding of Healthcare IT business and strategy and the departments involved in the development and release of HealthCare IT products (development, product management and services). 
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Understand the value of good leadership and able to challenge others to develop themselves.
  • Able to drive and manage change in people’s behaviour and to guide the team through change initiatives.
  • Able to maintain a high level of quality in a continually changing environment.
