Implementation and Prepress System Specialist

The Implementation and System Specialist is responsible for the successful implementation of Agfa Prepress Workflow software solutions that operate on premise or in the cloud. He or she will work with individual customers to ensure Agfa workflow systems are successfully installed, operational to specification, and meet customer expectations. The Implementation and System Specialist will align with project plans to complete system setup and configurations in line with associated time lines for these projects and will provide on-going application and technical support for system configurations, including scheduled after hours support as assigned. He or she will utilize a variety of remote support tools to access customer and cloud systems to remotely diagnose and resolve technical, application and hardware related issues and to work with OEM partners, suppliers and service providers, where applicable, to address and resolve hardware warranty issues.

Responsibilities include:

  • Install Agfa software and workflow products on servers and workstations and verify functionality, including support for Microsoft Server and Workstation operating systems.
  • Coordinate and complete new workflow software installations specifically aligned with project plans associated with system implementations and customer expectations.
  • Integrate and support Agfa workflow virtual systems operating in the Cloud, including products and workflows configured in Agfa data centers and those supported through Amazon Web Services.
  • Engage with customer personnel to adapt project plans to their needs, provide regular status updates, and verify completion and satisfaction with stakeholders.
  • Manage assigned implementation projects as the primary point of contact for customers during the implementation phase and coordinate other resources accordingly to complete assigned projects.
  • Develop and maintain detailed technical knowledge of the specifications and operation of Agfa Workflow software products – including software packages, hardware servers, virtualized environments, and cloud configurations.
  • Provide remote diagnostic and telephone technical and application support for the various Agfa software products and system components in order to resolve customer reported issues in a timely manner.
  • Adaptable to deliver and install the complete range of Agfa workflow products and systems and to work on special projects as needed.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of industry standard software, hardware systems and relevant diagnostics.
  • Report unresolved technical issues using proper escalation procedures and remain involved with escalations through to problem resolution.
  • Contribute to consulting with customers during the software support process and submitting business leads for follow-up.

 

Education:

  • Post-Secondary School Technical Diploma or Undergraduate education in a related technical field of study with a specific focus on Graphic Arts and/or Prepress or Pressroom Management.
  • Microsoft, VMware, and network certifications a plus.

 

Experience:

  • 5 + years experience with Prepress workflow software implementation, operation and support in the Graphic Arts/printing environment.
  • 3 + years experience with computer hardware technologies, networking, and Microsoft operating systems. Cloud computing and related fields a plus.
  • Related experience providing technical training and courseware development for software products.

  • Ability to adapt existing solutions to customer requirements and finding custom solutions to address specific customer needs.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and excellent verbal and written communications, including listening skills and managing relationships with customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including courtesy, tact, and discretion.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to see projects through from beginning to end.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems with good troubleshooting methodology, identifying root causes and developing workarounds.
  • Well-developed planning, organizational and administrative skills.
  • Understanding of cloud computing and networking concepts, such as VPNs, Gateways, internal and external IP addressing, etc.
  • Familiarity with Virtual Machine environments, such as VMware, Hyper-V, and AWS
  • Develop and document policies and procedures related to product deployment and support in virtualized environments, including on-premise and in the cloud.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, multi-team, cross-functional environment and to work with team members toward project completion.
  • Ability to manage multiple, ongoing customer engagements in parallel, including new installations, upgrades and routine customer support.
